When Mr Dietrichson is found dead on a train track, the police accept that it’s an accidental death. But Walter’s best friend and colleague Barton Keyes is not convinced…

The Old Oak is set in a small town near Durham, whose focal centre is the titular pub. Landlord TJ Bannatyne (Dave Turner) is struggling to stay afloat during economic uncertainty. As the film begins, the town, previously a mining community that has now plunged into poverty, faces rising tension when Syrian refugees are placed in local homes. While this is met with hostility by the locals, Bannatyne forges a relationship with Yara (Ebla Mari), one of the refugees, and her family, as they organize a food initiative to help the town community.

How do you find lasting love in today’s world? For documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr. Wrongs, to the dismay of her eccentric mother Cath (Emma Thompson) For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.

Based on the play by Alan Bennett, Allelujah is a warm and deeply moving story about old age. When the geriatric ward in a small Yorkshire hospital is threatened with closure, the hospital decides to fight back by galvanizing the local community: they invite a news
crew to film their preparations for a concert in honour of the hospital’s most distinguished nurse. What could go wrong? Allelujah celebrates the spirit of the elderly patients whilst paying tribute to the deep humanity of the medical staff battling with limited resources and ever-growing demand.
